This Wasn't Supposed To Happen!

The attempted bombing of an American airplane on Christmas Day really shook me up when I heard about it. I had family that flew in for the holiday on Christmas Day and I shuddered at the thought that that could've been their plane. But this wasn't supposed to happen.

When Barack Obama was elected president we were told that he would restore America's standing in the world. Obama would close Gitmo, ban "torture" of detained terrorists, brown nose Muslims, surrender in Iraq and engage in unconditional diplomacy with our enemies. This would show the world that Obama's America had repudiated the "cowboy diplomacy" of Bush and was now ready to submit to the world community. Peace and harmony would follow. But something happened on the way to Utopia.

Three times now, Muslim terrorists have killed or attempted to kill Americans on Obama's watch. Apparently, having brown skin, spending part of his childhood in Muslim Indonesia, and not being Bush hasn't impressed the jihadis. Imagine that. Gee, maybe that means something. Maybe that means Islamic terrorists are motivated by oh, I don't know, Islam, and won't be dissuaded from their murderous mission by a grovelling appeaser, not even a Black one.

I don't know what the Anointed One is going to do to combat terrorism now that his mere presence has proven ineffective at the job. I DO know that he'd better snap out of his egomania and PC stupor real fast. The jihadis are already promising more attacks, and if what's not supposed to happen happens again it won't be pretty for the terrorists...nor Obama.

Merry Christmas, Sweet Friends!

I'm sending out warm wishes to all my blogging buddies for a very merry Christmas and a blessed New Year! God bless you all!

Daring Christmas Humor

I found this on my friend Skunky's blog and had to post it here.

I told you it was daring!

It's Snowing!!!!

It's snowing!!!! It's not sticking yet and it'll probably all melt soon but I've never seen snow this close to Christmas before in my life. We just don't have white Christmases here. But a white Christmas Eve will definitely do. Let it snow, let it snow, let snow!

Reckless Disregard

I saw this bumper sticker while driving home from work tonight: If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it's free. To those of you who get it, truer words haven't been put on the back of a car.

The Senate Democrats just showed how much contempt they have for the will of the American people. We have spoken and said repeatedly that we don't want this health care "reform" bill yet Senate Dems voted to pass it anyway. Yes, the Senate and House have to hammer out the differences between their respective bills before a final health care monstrosity can become law, but that gives me little comfort. It's the fact that the Dems chose to move forward with this thing in reckless disregard of the wishes of the people that's so infuriating.

I'm a conservative. I believe in limited government per the Constitution. I'm against government taking over health care, whether it's done piecemeal or in one fell swoop. The shocking disregard for the people shown by the Democrats has strengthened my conservative convictions. I've come to realize that, as Dick Morris put it, there's no such thing as a moderate Democrat. Bribe them enough and those "conservative" or "moderate" Blue Dog Dems will cave to the Left faster than you can say political whore. Consequently, these Democrats have to go. They may think they are our masters but come November 2010 they'll discover who's really in charge. It's going to be a bloodbath and I can't wait.

Climate Change Common Sense

The global warming conference now taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark got me to thinking about something from years ago. I was just a kid at the time, but I remember the big freeze scare back in the '70's. Yes, 30 plus years ago scientists and environmentalists were screaming that the earth was headed for a new ice age and drastic action was needed NOW to save humanity and the planet. Can you say deja vu? I knew you could!

Don't get me wrong. I believe that the earth has warmed a bit in the last couple of decades. I don't need a scientist to tell me that. I can see for myself the difference between the winters from my childhood and the winters now. I can also see the difference between the summers. Both seasons are warmer. So, yes, the climate is changing a bit. What I'm skeptical about is the cause of the change.

Global warming true believers insist that people are the cause of the earth's climate change, but I have my doubts. I remember learning in school that, millions of years ago, the North Pole was as warm as the tropics. Imagine that, the North Pole a tropical paradise! And there weren't any people around back then to cause that run away warming, or stop it. It was just the earth doing its thing. Remembering that lesson from my childhood, I don't buy the true believers' man-made global warming dogma. But I also don't entirely dismiss the possibility.

The climate of the planet is complex, and climatology isn't an exact science. Diligent, honest, well-intentioned scientists and activists can disagree. Skepticism about man-made global warming is NOT a character flaw, as the true believers seem to think. Differing opinions on climate change and the solutions for it should be welcomed, not discouraged. What should be unequivocally rejected is any attempt to exploit climate change to further agendas having nothing to do with the environment. I feel that is what some "solutions" for global warming, like cap and trade, are really all about.

If climate change really is a threat to the earth and its life dispassionate discourse, not hysterical ranting, is the only way to find solutions that will work. My suggestion to the true believers: put away your dogma and open your mind. The answer to global warming may be where and what you least expect. Time to drop the dogmatism. Time to have a real discussion. Time to have some climate change common sense.

The Christmas Shoes

Christmas songs aren't supposed to make you cry, but this one does every time. It's called The Christmas Shoes and it's by the group New Song. This modern Christmas classic makes me cry each time I hear it, but it's particularly poignant this year. You see, my Mom had a second heart attack in August. She's doing fine now but I can't shake the feeling that she's not out of the woods. As the holidays have come upon us again I've been wondering if this holiday season will be our last with Mom, and what I will do if it is. Needless to say, such unease doesn't make for a totally merry Christmas. That's why The Christmas Shoes really speaks to me this year. I'm putting the song on my blog for others who may be going through a touchy time with a loved one this holiday season, and to remind all of us what the Christmas spirit really is. Enjoy, and merry Christmas.

Truth Will Out

First Michael Moore, then Chris Matthews. Progressives constantly reveal their true feelings for our country even while they wax apoplectic at anyone who questions their patriotism; but truth will out.

Michael Moore did it first.

Before Barack Obama gave his "tough" speech on Afghanistan Tuesday, Moore wrote an open letter telling Obama that if he didn't withdraw our troops he would become the new war president. Then, Moore delivered his coup de grace, saying that progressives "love our kids in the armed services but hate these [bleeping] generals." Did you get that? Moore, writing for himself and his left-wing cohorts, said they hate, not the terrorists who want to kill us, but America's generals. You can't spin that into some sort of dissent-is-patriotic con. This is Michael Moore, the man who, in 2004, wrote on his website that the Iraqi insurgents were like the Minutemen in the American Revolution. That would make our troops the Redcoats, i.e. the bad guys to you historically challenged folks. So, this letter to Obama isn't the first time Moore has trashed our military, and it won't be the last. But Moore wasn't the only liberal letting his true nature slip out.

Chris Matthews of MSNBC called West Point, where Obama delivered his Afghanistan speech, an "enemy camp". Mind you, the audience for Obama's speech was mostly cadets, those same kids that Moore claimed "we love", yet Matthews called them the enemy. The MSNBC pundit has apologized for his remark. He claimed that he was just trying to emphasize that the military audience might be skeptical of Obama's speech. Of course, if that's what Matthews really meant he could've just said that. He didn't say that because that's not what he meant. Matthews called West Point the enemy camp because that's how he, like most liberals, really sees the military. Yes, liberals really see our troops that way.

Liberals are extremely good at masking their hatred for the military and America itself. They hide it behind catchy slogans like, "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism". They hide it behind the noxious notion that constant, caustic criticism improves the nation. They hide it behind flowery but bogus professions of patriotic love. They hide their hatred, but it nonetheless manages to emerge. From Michael Moore, to Chris Matthews, to Brian de Palma, to Jack Murtha, to Jane Fonda, their hatred emerges. The truth makes itself known. No matter what, truth will out, eroding liberalism's credibility, and that couldn't be better for America.

Truth will out!

A Recipe For Victory...

...for our enemies.

I didn't watch Barack Obama's Afghanistan speech last night; I didn't think I could stomach it, and one thing I've heard about the speech has confirmed that thought.

Barack Obama, our great and fearless leader, did announce that he's sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, 10,000 fewer than General McChrystal asked for. However, he also said that America would begin withdrawing those troops in 18 months, presumably without any regard to conditions on the ground. Did you get that? We're going to put in more troops then yank them out according to the date on the calendar, NOT what's necessary for victory.

Now, I'm no general. I'm no military strategist. But even I know that you can't win a war by telling your enemy that you're fighting by the clock. I mean, what does Obama think al Qaeda and the Taliban will do? See his "good will" and throw down their arms? No! They'll lay low for the next year and a half and then take over again once our troops withdraw. Duh!

Then it will be back to square one: the Taliban running Afghanistan and jihadis running their training camps under Taliban protection. What an achievement.

But that's probably what Obama really wants. After all, he cut his political teeth on the hard Left, where hating America is de rigueur. Obama sat for twenty years in a God damn America, Black liberation church. He launched his political career in the home of radical Left terrorist Bill Ayers. He was friends for years with far-left "priest" Father Pfleger who thundered from the pulpit that America was the greatest sin against God. Obama immersed himself in that world. Can we really be surprised that he governs from its America-is-the-problem paradigm?

Barack Obama is like a gay man married to a woman. He's trying to act like what he's not--a patriotic moderate--but his true far-left nature continuously slips out. Eventually Obama will succumb completely to his true self and plunge head first into promiscuous leftism. Oh, wait, he's there already; his speech last night proved that. Last night at West Point, our nation's most prestigious military academy, Barack Obama delivered a recipe for victory...for our enemies.

God help us!

Haven't We Been Here Before?

Yesterday I was off work and was going to take my Mom to the movies. I bought my hometown newspaper to see where the movie she wanted to see was playing. Unfortunately, that film wasn't playing at a nearby theater so we didn't get to go, but all was not lost. On the front of the newspaper was the announcement that the Obama administration wants Congress to draft a "jobs bill" and have it ready for Obama to sign in January. Excuse me, but haven't we been here before?

I distinctly remember that less than a year ago Obama scared the American people into supporting his gazillion dollar stimulus package. Wasn't that supposed to have been a jobs bill? I mean, wasn't the stimulus supposed to stimulate the economy, prevent unemployment from going above 8%, and save or create millions of jobs? Well, wasn't it?

The first stimulus or "economic recovery" bill didn't work. Billions of taxpayer dollars were spent and unemployment is now above 10%...and 2010 prospects for many Dems look bleak. No wonder Obama felt compelled to act. He'll do anything for victory for his party (but not his country); plus, this gives Obama the chance to launch a second stimulus package by calling it a "jobs bill". The first "stimulus" didn't stimulate, so Obama seeks to fix that by spending more money! And like with the first "economic recovery" act and like with health care reform, Obama wants this jobs bill pushed through Congress lightning fast, before the American people have a chance to know what hit them.

Barack Obama promised change but his modus operandi never changes. His "solution" to everything is to spend money like a drunken sailor and then, when that doesn't work, to spend even more money. The guy doesn't know how to do anything but spend money...and paint pictures of apocalyptic doom to scare us into supporting his fiscal irresponsibility. I ask again, haven't we been here before? Yes, America, we have. And the only way to ensure that we don't go there again is to oust the whole Dem/lib lot in 2010 and 2012. That's our real hope and our real change.

Louisiana Purchase

Yesterday the Senate voted for cloture, i.e. to allow debate on its version of health care "reform". The vote was 60-39 and was pretty much along party lines, although there were a few moderate Dems whose vote was up for grabs. One of those Dems was Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. She was straddling the fence until the Senate threw her a $100,000,000 bone. That's right. Landrieu was given, in the Senate bill itself, $100,000,000 worth of tax breaks for her state of Louisiana, and only for Louisiana. To my knowledge no other state was given such a break. Talk about political prostitution.

I knew the far-left Dems were willing to do anything to pass their monstrosity of a bill, but this takes the proverial cake. Ignoring the will of the American people; ignoring fiscal responsibility; ignoring the Constitution which no where gives the federal government the authority to control health care; ignoring all that the arrogant, paternalistic socialists in the Senate are shoving socialized medicine down our throats, and using taxpayer money to bribe an unprincipled fence sitter to join them.

Mary Landrieu is a bought woman and an unprincipled mercenary. She voted solely for money and what she hopes it got her: another term as a Senator from Louisiana. Apparently, she's hoping that Louisiana residents will give her credit for the tax breaks and vote her back into office next year. I think Landrieu may have underestimated her constituents. The American people, even in Louisiana, are angry not only about Obamacare but also about the arrogance of condescending politicians who treat them like rebellious children who don't know what's best for themselves.

Well, we are NOT children. We DO know what's best for us. We know what we don't want and why. We know that bankrupting the nation is BAD policy. We know that robbing from our grandchildren is BAD policy. We know that "reforming" a system most Americans are satisfied with is BAD policy. And we know an unprincipled, bribe taking, political whore when we see one. And we don't like ANY of it!

Mary Landrieu thinks she has saved her cushy Senate seat by succumbing to bribery. She's wrong. 2010 is going to be a blood bath for the Dems, beginning with dear Mary. If it's not, it'll be a very bad thing for America. We'll have to start learning Chinese because they will be our new masters, owning the debt we've driven through the roof in the name of faux compassion. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the kind of change Obama planned all along, and was willing to pay Landrieu a pretty penny to get. Louisiana Purchase, indeed!

That Cover

It's probably obvious but I'll say it out loud: I'm a Palinista. Sarah Palin is my kind of politician: conservative, Christian, pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, and all around traditionalist. I'm mindful of the brutal trashing Mrs. Palin has endured from the lame stream media for being who she is. I certainly believe the leftists media elite wants to destroy Palin. Still, I think the outrage over the Newsweek cover to the left--no pun intended--is a waste of time and maybe even a bit disingenuous.

When I heard that there was a "negative" photo of Sarah Palin on the cover of Newsweek I assumed it was some sort of unflattering candid shot or a caricature. Instead, the "sexist" picture is a photo of Sarah Palin in--gasp!--shorts. Ohmigod!!!!! Conservatives, let's get real.

The photo on the cover was taken from a photo shoot Mrs. Palin did for Runner's World magazine. Now, this picture might've been inappropriate for the cover of what is ostensibly a news magazine. Perhaps a more "formal" photo was in order, and perhaps this casual shot was an attempt by the left-wing Newsweek to demean Palin. Maybe all of that is true but it's not cause for foot stomping anger. I mean, Sarah Palin looks good in that picture! I don't understand why she didn't see how she could've turned this attempted insult to her favor. Think of the possibilities.

While her critics were making themselves look like pit bulls with their malicious attacks, Sarah Palin could've waved this photo to the American people and said, "This is what being conservative, Christian, pro-life, and the mother of five will get you--smokin' hot!". Or, "You've heard about my 'caribou Barbie' lifestyle, now see the results!". A light hearted retort to this liberal provocation would've been a show of real class. Instead we got irate accusations of sexism which, in my opinion, made Sarah Palin look like a crybaby.

Mrs. Palin's handling of the cover controversy reveals that she has some "maturing" to do. I don't think she's ready to run for the presidency in 2012, if that's her intention. Still, her heart and beliefs are in the right place and I think Mrs. Palin should run for a lesser office to help build her resume for 2016. By then her experience will be greatly improved and she will have bounced back from her overreaction to that cover.

Trying KSM

"Hey Obama, here's what I think of trying Khalid Sheik Mohammed in civilian court...and here's what I think of you!"

I was going to write a thoughtful piece on the travesty of Obama treating the mastermind of 9-11 like a common criminal and his act of war like a common crime, but I was a little too discombobulated--spelling?--by all the craziness going on in our great nation. Besides, the above photo "says" exactly how I feel about Obama and his KSM outrage. What a sorry excuse for a president.

Islamic Terrorism At Fort Hood

It was terrorism.

No, officialdom hasn't yet labeled it as such, but the massacre of 13 soldiers at Fort Hood this past Thursday was an act of domestic Islamic terrorism. This is the second act of Islamic terrorism on American soil since Obama took office, and the deadliest one since 9-11. But no one among the powers that be seems to have the courage to call this rampage what it is.

As I've thought over these last few days about the horror at Fort Hood, I've concluded that what scares and angers me the most is seeing the iron grip that political correctness has on our society and all its most important institutions.

Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the army psychiatrist and Muslim who slaughtered our soldiers at Fort Hood, had given plenty of clues that he was heading off the radical Muslim cliff. He had complained that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were unjust to Muslims and feared his upcoming deployment. He had said he was Muslim first and American second. He said he believed Muslims shouldn't kill other Muslims. And he had reportedly left jihadi style rhetoric on the internet. These things by themselves might not be too much case for alarm but taken together they had up to a HUGE red flag. Why didn't the military pick up on it? Most likely for the same reason that most politicians and news folks haven't called what Hasan did terrorism.

In the PC world of the Left, where many politicians and virtually all journalists live, Muslims are a protected group. Being non-White, non-Western, and non-Christian they are regarded as oppressed and are cut tremendous slack and given a huge pass. Every effort is made to be sensitive to their feeling. Violence by Muslims is to be understood, not condemned. And under no circumstances are Muslims generally to be condemned for the actions of a few. This politically correct paradigm is the main reason why the rampage at Fort Hood hasn't been called terrorism. But I think there's another reason, too. Officialdom has resisted labeling Nidal Malik Hasan's crime Islamic terrorism for political reasons. They want to protect the reputation of Barack Obama and his smarmy policy of peace through appeasement.

Obama, you may recall, went on his now notorious I'm Sorry To Be An American Tour of the Muslim world shortly after becoming president. His grovelling to Muslims was supposed to usher in a new era of "mutual respect" and peace between America and the Islamic world. It didn't. Islamic terrorism has continued and has now struck twice on American soil since Obama took possession of the Oval Office. The first act of domestic Islamic terrorism under Obama was the June 1st murder of Pvt. William Long by Muslim convert Carlos Bledsoe, aka Abdulhakim Muhammad. The second act of domestic Islamic terrorism under Obama was the horror at Fort Hood on Thursday. That attack, I repeat, was the deadliest Islamic attack on the homeland since 9-11.

I fear that more attacks from radical Muslims are coming. They are coming because we now have in Washington a crew who won't do what's necessary to stop them. The first president to treat Islamic terrorism as the war that it is was savagely maligned for doing so. Now we have a president who thinks that "soft power",i.e. appeasement, will calm the savage Muslim beast. Well, Nidal Malik Hasan and Abdulhakim Muhammad didn't get that memo. Waiting for the Islamofascists to become good boys and girls in response to our ass kissing is going to cost more Americans their lives. Next time it may be a shopping mall, commuter train, or school that gets hit. Don't expect the Anointed One and his policies to be held accountable, though, when they strike again. Don't expect the terrorists to be held accountable, either. It'll be Bush's fault; that's liberal officialdom's prime way of absolving Obama of responsibility for anything bad. Protecting Obama, not America, is all that progressives, including Obama himself, really care about. More dead Americans in the homeland are on the way.

Heaven help us.

Tribute To The Fallen At Fort Hood

I'm not yet ready to write on the horror that occured at Fort Hood yesterday. I found this AWESOME song on a blog called Power and Control. It was posted to honor the victims of the evil and cowardly act that transpired Thursday. I'm putting this song on PGZ also to honor the dead and wounded at Fort Hood and in all of the military in this time of war. So listen up, here's some real manly and patriotic rock'n'roll. It'll cheer you and scare the hell out of that jihadi trash!

Message To Illegals

I found this wonderfully politically incorrect picture on my friend Angel's blog and just had to post it here. When it comes to the issue of illegal immigration it doesn't get any more succinctly unpc and true than this.

But What About The Children?

Today in Afghanistan the Taliban killed eight American soldiers with roadside bombs, helping to make this October the deadliest month for the US since the war began. This is sad, and my heart goes out to the soldiers' families, but on Fox News I learned that some Afghan civilians, including children, were also killed in these attacks. Now my question is this: where are all the peace activists and Muslims who always raise a hue and cry when ever children are killed by Americans?

Muslims and their left-wing, "anti-war" allies, opposed the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan largely because of supposed concern over the fate of civilians, especially children. In order to ensure the safety of civilians, and to ass kiss the Muslim world, Barack Obama has instituted idiotic rules of engagement for our brave troops in Afghanistan. Put simply, our ground forces are not, repeat NOT, allowed to call in air support if civilians are in the area. You don't need a Phd to know that, in order to protect themselves, the Taliban will hide behind civilians, including children, as they attack our soldiers. But increasing the danger for our troops is apparently acceptable to our appeaser-in-chief. We must not give even the appearance of not caring about Muslim civilians, yet the Taliban kill Muslim children and the 'ummah is silent. And so are the pacifists.

This silence reveals the truth about the Muslims and the "pacifists". They are NOT against war, terrorism, or violence of any kind. What they are against is American power. For them, "peace" means "the absence of American power on the world stage", as conservative journalist Mark Steyn aptly put it. Any act of violence whose goal is to obstruct or defeat American power is acceptable to Muslims and the Left. And the killing of civilians, including children, is forgivable if said killings occur in pursuit of that goal. Civilian deaths are unforgivable only when they happen at the hands of Americans. For Muslims and the "anti-war" Left American power is the only evil in the world. They will effect any outrage necessary to contain or defeat it.

So, what about the children? Nothing, because Muslims and the Left have nothing to gain from making a fuss over Muslims killing Muslim children. Such killings don't arouse fierce opposition to American power. Muslim children were murdered today by Muslim fanatics and the Muslim world and its friends said nothing. And that speaks volumes.

English Only Please!

There's something that happens every week at work that really irritates me.

Every Friday morning at work we have a meeting; ok, fine. The meeting is usually short and occasionally even informative; the problem is that the Big Boss always has a Spanish interpreter at the meeting. Everything she says is translated into Spanish for all the Hispanic workers. This upsets me; this is not right.

We are in America, not Mexico. America is an English speaking country. English is the language of American culture and American identity. It is the language of America's history and heritage. English is the language of America's founding documents, her classic art, and her national discourse. English is the linguistic glue that helps to hold this dynamic nation together; it's a key ingredient that puts the "Unum" in E pluribus unum: Out of many, one. In short, English solidifies who we are as a people. For immigrants to become American, as opposed to just being in America, they must speak English. They--and American citizens--are free to use any language they want at home, but they must understand that English is the language of public life and national identity.

Some will say that my view is racist and violates the principles of diversity and multiculturalism. I say no. Multiculturalism and diversity aren't always and inherently good. When they weaken national cohesion and encourage the Balkanization of the nation they are not only bad, but dangerous. Having an English only policy in the public square, including work, can help put a check on diversity and multi-culti inspired disunity and parochialism. If immigrants want to be American as they claim, they should have no problem with the primacy of English in America.

And my view isn't racist. What's racist is the expectation of many Latinos that they should be catered to in their native tongue, regardless of the inconvenience or unfairness to anyone else. Hispanics aren't the only people at my job--or in America--whose native language isn't English. There are Asian and African immigrants who work at the warehouse. However, at our Friday morning meetings the Big Boss never has interpreters to translate her words into Vietnamese or Swahili. Why not? I mean, if the demand of multiculturalism is that all cultures should be respected, then shouldn't the Asian and African workers have the meetings in their native tongues? Why are Hispanics deemed the only non-English speakers worthy of translators? Why do they feel themselves to be so entitled? That's the real racism.

The American ideal is equality; everyone is treated the same. All Americans should live up to the same expectations and abide by the same rules. When it comes to language, equality is expecting everyone to use the same linguistic medium of exchange in public life. It's recognizing that America, like every other nation, has it's own history, heritage, and culture that Americans have a right to preserve within their own borders. And immigrants have to respect that. If Hispanics feel they're being victimized by having to speak English they should remember Billy Wilder. Who's Billy Wilder?

Samuel "Billy" Wilder was a renowned Hollywood screen writer and director who wrote and/or directed such classic films as Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard, and Some Like It Hot. Wilder was also an immigrant, an Austrian Jew who arrived in America from Nazi Germany via France in 1933. One of the first things Wilder did after arriving in America was learn English. He didn't whine that he was a victim of racism because everything wasn't handed to him in his native language. Instead, Wilder understood that he was no longer in his native country and his native language no longer applied. Wilder learned a new "native" tongue, became a citizen, and then created some of the greatest movies in Hollywood's history. Billy Wilder knew he was expected to learn English and he did. If a White immigrant had to learn English to make it in America, Hispanics have no right to cry "Racism!" when they are expected to do the same.

One of the planks in comprehensive immigration reform is that immigrants/illegal aliens have to learn English. If we're serious about that then we must stop making it easy for immigrants and illegals to function without knowing English. And we certainly must stop catering to one non-English speaking group over all the others. Equality, as stated above, means the same rules and expectations for everyone. Billy Wilder had to learn English, and he was White. Non-Whites can't now demand a different standard for themselves. It's time to kick the translators out of the meeting. English only, please!

Are You Liberal Or Conservative?

This is a cool post I found on the Independent Thinkers Lounge blog. I asked the author, Southern Sage, if I could put this post here and he said yes. Have a look see and find out if you're a liberal or a conservative.

Are You Liberal Or Conservatie?

The truest comparison I have ever seen!

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns,he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a black or Hispanic man is conservative, he sees himself as independently successful. His liberal counterpart sees himself as a victim in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who's going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it's a foreign religion, of course!)

Ifa conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he's in labor and then sues.

If a conservative reads this, he'll send it to his friends and they'll have a good laugh. A liberal won't delete it because he's "offended", he will cry and piss himself and lay in the fetal position in his own urine for the rest of the day because that's what liberals do.

Hope all's well!

A Little Story About "Free" Health Care

For all those people who believe in government funded, universal health care, here's a little story that shows what's wrong with that idea.

Several years ago I worked at a fast food restaurant. One day one of my co-workers complained of having a headache. Trying to be nice, I offered her a couple of the Advil tablets I always carried with me. She happily took them and soon felt better. A few days later another co-worker had some sort of pain and asked me for some Advil. Trying to be nice again, I said sure. He took them, his pain went away, and all was right with the world. Then, a few days later this scenario repeated itself. My co-worker took the Advil, his pain left, but all wasn't right with the world that time.

After it became known that I was the girl with the meds, every day somebody had a ache or a pain and came to me for relief. I became a provider of free "health care" for my co-workers. Free, that is, to them. It was costing ME money. I had to put a stop to it, and I closed the free drug store. No more Advil, I told my co-workers. From now on they had to buy their own, just like I did.

Do you see the lesson in this little story? Something that started out as a friendly gesture quickly turned into an entitlement. Nice people, my co-workers, developed the bad attitude of what I call "expectant ingratitude". Expectant ingratitude is when people expect to be given stuff and then are ungrateful for it because they believe they're entitled to it. They care nothing about the effort and expense involved in providing that stuff for them because they're not involved in said effort and expense. They're only involved in getting "free" stuff. That's what happened to my co-workers; not one of them offered to help me pay for all that Advil. That's why the Advil faucet got shut off.

Expectant ingratitude is what will happen on a national scale with universal, government funded health care. People will liberally and carelessly use things they have no personal stake in. "Free" health care will become an entitlement we simply can't afford, but the country won't be able to shut off the faucet as easily as I did. It will bankrupt the country. That can be avoided, but only if we heed the lessons of human nature...and this little story about "free" health care.

Deliver Us, Obama!

For all you liberals who scoff at the notion that you've turned Obama into a messiah, you're right. You've actually turned him into God Himself, ready to hear the pleas of His devoted worshippers. Don't think so? Then have a look at this shocking video of heretical, leftist "Christians" calling out to Obama to "deliver" them. This is so creepy that I'm tempted to believe it might've been staged. But these are liberals so it's probably all too real.

Gee, who knew that Martin Luther King was a prophet? This stuff is reminiscent of Jim Jones and the People's Temple. Jones taught the same Marxist, liberationist, "Christianity" that we catch a glimpse of in this video. This is also the "Christianity" Obama was steeped in for twenty years. That's a scary thought. I'm sooooooo glad I didn't vote for that guy!

First The Banks, Then GM, Now The Schools

It's becoming clearer and clearer everyday. Barack Obama is a BIG believer in BIG government. He thinks the federal behemoth should be in charge of pretty much everything, including our children's schools. And now Obama has come up with a plan to get America's kids ready for the challenges of the 21st century. Are you ready for it? The Great One wants to lenghten the school day/year. That's right. He wants our kids to be in school all day AND virtually all year. Brilliant, huh?

And why does Obama think a longer school day/year is a great idea? For the same reason he thinks universal health care is a great idea: all the other industrialized nations do it. You can't find a better reason than that.

Actually, on the surface, the idea that longer time in school will improve grades and test scores doesn't seem so farfetched. The only problem is that, according to Yahoo! News, American kids already spend more hours in school than the Japanese, Taiwanese, and Hong Kong kids who consistently outscore them in math and science. So what are we to make of Obama's grand plan? It's just another big government liberal scheme.

If Obama really cared about the education of America's children he would, as I've said in another post, encourage parents to homeschool or send their kids to private school, as he himself does. If it's more and better learning he wants, homeschools and private schools almost always outperform public schools. So why not give vouchers to parents, especially poorer ones, to send their children to the private school of their choice? If Obama wants to spend federal money on education, that seems to be the best way to do it. The only possible drawback is that many private schools, especially parochial ones, might not accept the vouchers if they come with too many strings attached.

Also, if Obama really cared about reforming education he should worry less about the length of time kids spend in school and worry more about what they're doing while they're there. The Department of Education, established by Jimmy Carter, is over thirty years old. The US spends more on education than any other industrialized country, yet all that federal involvement and money hasn't resulted in better educated children. Maybe it's because the kids are spending too much time learning how to put condoms on cucumbers rather than learning math, science, and history. Turning public schools into centers of leftist social engineering is, I suggest, the real reason for the poor performance of too many American kids. And it's probably the real reason why Obama wants American children to spend more time in school.

It's time to rein in Obama and his ilk. Controlling education is not one of the powers the Constitution gives to the federal government. We've had over thirty years of increasing federal interference in education and the results are dismal. Obama is out of his place trying to dictate to local schools how many hours or days they must require kids to attend. He should leave the children alone and stick to what the Constitution says his job is. Novel idea, huh?

The Littlest Patriot

I first saw this video on my friend Robert's blog and was blown away by this little girl. Her name is Sarah, she's 11 years old, and she delivers a speech that shows more knowledge of and love for America and our heritage than anything you hear from the politicians in Washington, especially the liberal ones. I was heartened by little Sarah. She shows that the youth of this country are not complelely sold out to "hip" and "cool" leftie ideas. Sarah shows that there are young Americans who actually love this country and aren't afraid to say so. I want all of you to give a listen to this brave little patriot. If we're lucky, if God chooses to smile on us, Sarah and many more like her will be the future of America. And amen to that!

September Mourn

To all who lost their precious lives on the day that changed America:

We will NEVER forget you!

We WILL avenge you!

You were killed in an act of war. In the spirit of In Flanders Fields we will not break faith with you have died, but will prevail against the foe so you may sleep in your own "Flanders Fields". Requiescant in pace, my fellow Americans; your killers won't.

"In Flanders Fields", by Lt. Col. John McCrae, Canadian Army, WWI

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We will not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

"You Lie!"

YEAH!

I didn't watch Barack Obama's puhleeeeez-support-my-health-care--plan! speech last night. I just wasn't in the mood for another smarmy "charm" offensive from Dear Leader. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I learned on the radio this afternoon about Rep. Joe Wilson's (R-SC) spot on "outburst" during Obama's monologue. For those of you who don't know--and I can't imagine who you would be--Rep. Wilson shouted out, "You lie!", when Obama claimed his health care plan wouldn't cover illegal aliens. Again, I say YEAH!

Rep. Wilson has apologized for his words, saying that his emotions got the better of him, but he has nothing to be sorry for. He was right. He said what a lot of us are thinking. Someone needs to shout, "You lie!", every time Barack Obama opens his mouth. Liberals, predictably, have criticized Rep. Wilson but they are in no moral position to do so. They claim that the debate over health care should be civil and, again, they're in no moral position to do so. Liberals now shout, "Decorum! Decorum!", forgetting that they had no use for decorum! when George W. Bush was president. Their hypocrisy is shameless.

Rep. Joe Wilson did the nation a great favor. His spontaneous act exposed the double standard exploited by leftists in all segments of society. If there's going to be civility in our national debates it has to be practiced by BOTH sides. Unilateral civility is the political equivalent of unilateral disarmament, which is way liberals want conservatives to engage in it. WE MUST NOT! If liberals truly want civil debate they should prove it by apologizing for the visciousness they traded in during Bush's presidency. Of course, that's not going to happen. We, then, have no obligation to uphold a standard liberals' glibly ditch when it doesn't serve their purpose. Joe Wilson spoke the truth at exactly the right time. No mea culpa is in order. Obama lied. Wilson called him on it. Now, lefties, get over it.

Free speech is beautiful!

I'm Republican Because...

I found this on my friend Angel's blog and had to post it here. It describes succinctly and almost perfectly why I am a "Republican". (Actually, I'm a conservative but this graphic still makes the point.) I hope you like it as much as I do!

Ding! Dong! The Commie's Gone!

Ding! Dong! The commie's gone!
Which commie?
Barack's commie.
Ding! Dong! Barack's commie is gone!

You read that right. Van Jones, Obama's green jobs czar, resigned today amid protestations that he was the victim of a "viscious smear campaign". Apparently, Jones considers it a smear for his radicalism to be exposed to the public. Yet, Obama himself said we should judge him by the kind of people he surrounds himself with, so shouldn't we know who those people are? Shouldn't we know that Van Jones is a self-professed communist, harbors deep resentment against White people, believes America is an imperialist country, sympathizes with Muslims, and suspects that 9/11 was an inside job? How is it a "viscious smear" to tell the American people this?

The job of a "czar" doesn't require the same vetting process as other positions in the White House. In fact, I don't think it requires any vetting process at all. And, as I understand it, a "czar" answers only to the president. That makes it all the more crucial that these "czars" are investigated by the media. The American people have a right to know who has the president's ear. If that person is a radical like Van Jones, they have to go. That's not a smear campaign, viscious or otherwise. That's the American people keeping control over their own country.

All politicians, including Obama, work for us, the people. We don't want communists telling the president what to do. We don't want radicals of any sort "advising" the chief executive. Van Jones is only the first "czar" to be vetted by the public after not being vetted by the Obama White House. The other "czars" need to be on notice; they're next. They will be questioned. They will be investigated. And if they are radicals like Jones they will be ousted, too.

America belongs to we, the people, not to radicals who sympathize with our enemies. Those people belong in the gutter not the government. Maybe now Obama realizes that and will ditch any other scum he has working for him. If not, he should prepare for a long, hot autumn.

A Historical Difference

Barack Obama, Muslim brown noser par excellence, is prepping to prosecute CIA interrogators for the crime of doing the job of keeping this country safe. As I contemplate this surreal state of affairs I'm struck at how this country has degenerated in just a generation.

On September 11, 2001 more Americans died at the hands of foreign attackers than died at Pearl Harbor. Less than 5 years after Pearl Harbor this country had ground Pearl's attackers and their allies into dust and sent them back to the pit of Hell from whence they came. To accomplish that feat the United States of America put 16,000,000 men in uniform, imprisoned over 100,000 citizens and legal residents in internment camps, instituted press censorship, laid waste to huge stretches of terra firma, and nuked two cities off the face of the earth. And we did this unencumbered by the bizarre and self-hating notion that destroying our enemies violated our values. But now things have changed.

Nearly 8 years after September 11, far from defeating our enemies with pride, determination, and no apologies, we are on the verge of prosecuting the people who kept us safe from another hideous attack. I can't believe the world we're now living in. I bet the Greatest Generation is profoundly sorry it sacrificed so much just so the country could end up like this.

Get 'Em While They're Young!

While driving home from work today I was listening to Michael Medved's radio show and heard something totally creepy. It seems that Barack Obama really does believe he's Dear Leader and he's going after the kiddos to make them believe it, too. How is he planning on doing that? By giving a speech on September 8 to America's school children, a speech that teachers are being greatly encouraged to permit their students to watch during the school day. This, as I said, is totally creepy.

It's not just the fact of Obama giving a speech directly to children that's creepy. It's the things that are going along with it. According to Medved the Department of Education has suggested that, in preparation for the Anointed One's speech, teachers should encourage their students to read books about Obama and should ask them questions like, What can we learn from President Obama? And my favorite, How does Barack Obama inspire us? WTF?!?!

We are not living in North Korea! This is America! There is nothing inherently wrong with Obama or any president talking to America's children, but Obama is a chief executive who's shown he doesn't like criticism. He's taken it upon himself to tell Americans which news sources they can trust and which they can't. He's told Republican lawmakers that they need to stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. And he's complained that Fox News isn't "adequately favorable" to him, as if it's the media's job to be favorable to him. Clearly, Obama has a problem with dissent. So, his upcoming speech to the nation's kids is suspicious.

The guest on Michael Medved's show, a Midwestern school teacher called "Carol", asked why Obama doesn't give his speech during primetime. During primetime, "Carol" pointed out, not only could kids still hear the speech but their parents could listen too and give their opinion on Obama's message. Perhaps that's why Obama is giving his education speech during school hours, precisely to do an end run around that parental filter. Dear Leader wants to reach the children directly so they'll then go home and tell Mom and Dad how great he is because he cares about them and wants them to do well in school. The strategy is simple: get the kids and the parents will follow. I'm not saying that is what Obama's doing but it sure looks like it.

As news of Obama's speech spreads I hope many, many parents will opt their kids out of the "historic" event. If Barack Obama really cares about education then the people he needs to be addressing are parents, not children. But parents are adults who might surprise Barack with some challenging questions and thoughtful skepticism. Obama will have no such worries with little kids; they can be counted on to give him the unthinking devotion he seems to need just to function as a human being.

Obama needs to grow up. He wanted to be president; well, now he is. If he can't take the political heat he should resign and leave the presidency to someone more thick-skinned. But the one thing he most certainly must not do is use our children for his own political gain. Parents and others who love children don't take kindly to that sort of thing. Just thought Dear Leader ought to know.

$35,000 A Week

Barack Obama has decided to take a summer vacation. He has a very big job y'know, so he's off to Martha's Vineyard with Michelle and the girls--and Bo too, I presume--for a much needed rest. The Anointed One will relax with his family on an estate that rents for $35,000 a week. You read that right; $35,000 a week! But not to worry. Barack Obama is independently wealthy due to book sales so he'll be paying that outrageous sum himself. And his devotees couldn't be happier about it. But let's think about this for a minute.

Suppose John McCain had won the '08 election. Now suppose that the economy was in the same dire straits under him as it now is under Obama. Can you imagine how the MSM would be crying foul if President McCain was paying $35,000 to rent a vacation estate at a time when unemployment hovered near 10%? We'd almost certainly get a steady diet of stories on how uncaring Republicans were and how McCain's very expensive vacation epitomized that. President McCain would be harassed with questions about why he didn't spend that money on the poor. Come on, you know that's what would happen if McCain had done this. But when Obama does it it's alright.

Barack Obama is the darling of the media. He can spend more money on his vacation than millions of Americans earn in a year and it's just fine. After all, the Golden Child needs his rest; he's breaking a sweat running up the deficit, surrendering to our enemies, and apologizing for America's very existence. After doing all that anyone would be tired. So Obama is perfectly within his right to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a vacation. A vacation.

Must be nice.

Massa Massa

You won't believe this! Here's Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) declaring he'll vote against the interests of his district if he thinks doing so will be "helpful". Here's Rep. Massa speaking at the loony left Net Roots Nation conference in Pittsburgh, PA:

Can you believe the arrogance of this guy? He'll vote against the interests of his district? He'll vote against the opinions of his district? Apparently, Eric Massa thinks his last name, which sounds like the slaves' pronounciation of "master", really does make him and the other arrogant twits in Washington our "massas". Memo to Eric Massa: you are Representative Massa, not Massa Massa. Get that through your thick head and start doing the job you were elected to do: represent your fellow citizens not lord it over them. There is only one Lord, Eric Massa, and you are not him!

They Can Organize...

...but we can't?

Tonight on Greta Van Susteren I saw that supporters of Obamacare came out in force at a townhall meeting for Sen. Arlen Spector in Pennsylvania. And did those supporters of the President's health care policy show up at the meeting spontaneously? NOT! They were bussed in by your favorite community organizer organization and mine: ACORN.

But wait! Hasn't the political Left spent the last few weeks screaming against organized protests? Haven't liberal politicians been saying that organized protests are illegitimate, astroturf, to quote one well-known leftist politico? Yes, that's exactly what the Left's been saying, loud and clear. But now that people are organizing for Obamacare organized protests are A-ok. Liberal hypocrisy at work.

The truth, people, is that most demonstrations are organized and that's alright. All groups--liberal, conservative, religious, secular, you name it--are free to rally their troops to make their voices heard. It's called freedom of speech and it's the American way. It's the American way when we do it, and it's the American way when they do it. There is no clause in the Constitution that says free speech is only for the Left. Memo to Nancy Pelosi.

The effort to demonize, discredit, and smear the sometimes raucous opponents of Obamacare is not only shameful but also a threat to one of our most cherished and fundamental liberties. The liberal politicians and their party who are leading this charge should be ashamed of themselves. Those who disagree with any of Obama's policies are Americans too and have the same rights as Obama's devotees.

They can organize but we can't? Not in my America!

The REAL Backbone Of America

Dr. David Scheiner, Barack Obama's former personal physician, was on Mike Huckabee's show Saturday and he said something that really pissed me off.

While discussing Obamacare--he's against it, he supports a single payer plan--Scheiner advocated covering illegal aliens because they "do our work for us". Did you get that? Illegals do our work. When I heard that my first thought was, oh no he didn't say that! My second thought was how someone who has to be smart--Schneiner's a doctor after all--would peddle such bona fide nonsense.

Speaking as someone who busts my ass 40-60 hours a week, I'm SICK TO DEATH of this noxious notion that illegal aliens are the only people in America who work. No, they AREN'T. Illegals make up approximately 5% of the US workforce. That means the other 95% of the US workforce is composed of AMERICANS! Like me. We are the ones who "do our work". We are not some sort of parasitic leisure class living off the backs of the poor illegals. We are the producers. It is our labor that produces the wealth that creates the jobs that employ the illegals. If we stopped working the illegals would have nothing. We don't owe our way of life to them; they owe their lives to us.

If Dr. Scheiner or anyone else believes that illegal aliens should be covered by universal health care, fine. Let them defend their view with rationally stated arguments. But Scheiner and all who think like him should understand that they lose credibility when they use the patently false assertion that illegals "do our work" and therefore should reap all the benefits of citizenship. They don't and they shouldn't.

I am an American worker. I am only one of millions. I and my fellow workers, along with small businessmen, are the backbone of the US economy. If our country ends up with socialized medicine--and I pray she doesn't--it should go first of all to us. No foreigner who broke into this country like a thief in the night deserves health care at the taxpayer's expense. If they want free health care let them get it in their own country. As for America, let universal health care go to those who really "do our work". You and me.

The Uncriticizable President Part 2

My! My! How opinions change!

When George Bush was president liberals didn't hesitate to call him every vile name in the book. Now that they have the power they are outraged at any dissent from their policies. Can you say hypocrites? I knew you could.

The reactions of the Dems to many Americans' anger over Obamacare is downright shameful...and frightening. I have never in my life seen a national party actively try to discourage and discredit opposition to its policies. It's one thing for bloggers, columnists, or talking heads to opine on and even diss their ideological opponents, but when actual members of government do it it's alarming.

How dare you Democrats chastise us citizens for speaking our minds!!!! Let me explain something to you people.

The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech to all Americans, not just those on the Left. You senators, representatives, and presidents are sent to Washington to do the will of us, the people. You are not sent there to impose your will on us! Speaking our minds and making our opinions known on the issues of the day isn't only a constitutional right, it's also a duty of citizenship. And part of your duty as our public servants is to listen to, not disparage, our opinions.

The smear campaign against opponents of Obama's health care reform is appalling. During the Bush administration liberals shrilly insisted that dissent was the highest form of patriotism. But now that their Golden Boy is in office criticism of the president and/or his policies is suddenly illegitimate. I'm shocked almost beyond words at liberals' stunning reversal of their admiration for dissent. Oppose Bush and you're a patriot; oppose Obama and you're a racist or a stupid, GOP tool. Gimme a break!

It's time liberals in and out of government accepted the fact they that don't own the right to criticize. Their messiah and everything he does aren't off limits to dissent. Smarmy efforts to delegitimize Obama's critics expose a mile wide fascist streak running through the left side of the political aisle. Surprise, surprise.

The fight against Obamacare is shaping up to be a fight for the right to free speech for all. Being an angry "mob" is our American right. If Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Obama himself are upset by that then they're living in the wrong country. They should catch the next plane to Venezuela or Cuba where only the Left can speak. I'm sure they'll feel completely at home there.

My Flag Too

The Confederate battle flag. How so many people love to hate this banner! I used to be one of them, being Black and all, but over the years I've come to really like this much maligned symbol. Before you throw stones at me or call me an oreo, hear me out.

First, I like the Confederate battle flag (CBF) for purely aesthetic reasons. I just think it's a beautiful image. I love the mix of colors, stripes, and stars. I was fascinated to learn several years ago that the stripes in the CBF are actually a form of the cross called the St. Andrew's or saltire cross. This is the cross on Scotland's national flag and was chosen for the Confederacy largely because the majority of White Southerners were of Scottish descent. I believe it was an appropriate choice as the saltire works to produce a most delightful treat to the eyes. But, aesthestics aside, what about the CBF'S history as a symbol of slavery and racial injustice, many will ask. Doesn't the Confederate battle flag's association with racism offend me? In a word, no.

The notion that the Confederacy's battle banner is uniquely linked to racism is something that I've never understood. It's like the people who promote that idea don't know anything about history, or just don't care because they're too busy making political hay out of the CBF. But the fact is that there is nothing uniquely racist about the Confederate battle flag, and those who claim there is are being profoundly hypocritical. If liberals hate the CBF because it supposedly symbolizes slavery and racism, then why don't they hate every flag that has ever flown over a slaveholding nation, and every symbol ever used by racist groups?

I mean, if the Confederate battle flag is to be despised because of its association with the slaveholding South, then what are we to make of the Star and Stripes? America's national flag waved over a slavery practicing country just as surely as the CBF did. It also waved over a country that was steeped in racism long after slavery was abolished. And that racism was not confined to the South. A documentary on Malcolm X revealed that when he was born in Nebraska Klan membership there was "five times higher than in Mississippi". Is Nebraska's state flag hated because of that unsavory fact? Of course not.

And what about the Muslim flags?

Arab Muslims started trading in African slaves hundreds of years before Europeans did. Yet today Arab Muslims aren't ashamed of their flags; they don't look at them as symbols of a despicable past. But if symbols matter, and if moral consistency matters, shouldn't they be? Wouldn't they be?

The hatred of the Confederate battle flag has nothing to do with morality. It's about a liberal, anti-White ideology and I embrace the CBF as a form of resistance to that ideology. Unlike many liberals I'm a genuine anti-racist. I don't believe in being racist against anyone, including White people. So, irony of ironies, claiming the CBF as my own is, for me, part of opposing racism. But there's another, simpler reason why I like the Confederate battle flag.

I like the CBF just because I'm a Southerner. The Confederate battle flag isn't a symbol of the slaveholding South; it's a symbol of the South, period. Black Southerners are Southerners. We are part of the South and Southern culture is as much ours as it is the slaveholders'. Black Southerners are as conservative as White Southerners. We're proud of the fact that the South is known as the Bible Belt. Yes, we've been influenced by the anti-traditionalist ideology of modern liberalism, but we still hold traditional, Bible-based, Southern values as the ideal to aspire to. The Confederate battle flag's haters forget that the CBF represents those now embattled values more than it represents anything else. Those are values anyone, White or Black, can believe in. And that's why, even though I'm Black, the Confederate battle flag is my flag, too.

The Uncriticizable President

The Southern Poverty Law Center is out to save Obama!

Appearing on tonight's episode of The O'Reilly Factor, Richard Cohen of the SPLC called for CNN to fire talking head Lou Dobbs for spreading the smear that Obama isn't an American citizen. People who believe that Obama isn't a citizen are called "birthers" because they question the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate. If Barack Obama isn't a US citizen he can't be president. Dobbs repeated this "birther" notion and now the SPLC wants him gone.

I was a little surprised that the Southern Poverty Law Center even took notice of what some tv personality said about Obama. What surprised me even more, though, was the content of SPLC's reaction. Instead of challenging Dobbs on the truth of the "birther" idea, Richard Cohen accused Dobbs of bigotry for questioning Obama's citizenship. Huh?

How does questioning Obama's citizenship, or criticizing him in anyway, make you a bigot? Answer: it doesn't. This is just a ploy by liberals to discourage and discredit any criticism of or critical thinking about their Golden Boy. Don't fall for it. During Bush's presidency liberals' justified their anti-Bush vitriol by constantly repeating the mantra that dissent is the highest form of patriotism. Well, if that was true then shouldn't it be true now? Isn't Dobbs just expressing the highest form of patriotic devotion by questioning Obama's citizenship? Sure, such questioning might not be totally rational, but since when did liberals care about rationality?

I think Richard Cohen and the Southern Poverty Law Center came out so strongly against Lou Dobbs because they, like most liberals, are scared. Obama's popularity has plummeted below 50%, due mostly to his reckless spending and broken economic promises. The bloom is off the hope-and-change rose, replaced with deepening skepticism and misgivings. Leftists want to discourage this trend so they try to squash any negative comments about Obama, no matter how kooky those comments may be. The Chosen One must be protected. Making people believe it's racist to question Obama is the main way liberals seek to do that. Again, don't fall for it.

Barack Obama wanted to be president; now he is. He used soaring rhetoric to get elected; now he has to face the consequences of disappointing the hopes of millions who voted for him. Part of those consequences is having his policies, character, and even his place of birth questioned. The Anointed One needs to get used to it or get out of the political kitchen. He can never be the uncriticizable president; that's not the American way. Asking questions is.

Sorry, Richard Cohen.

Falling Star

Barack Obama held a press conference, or something, last night to promote his agenda for universal health care (UHC) in America. I didn't watch it. I had no interest in it whatsoever. The first couple of Obama press conferences I was actually interested in what he would say, not because I support him but because I wanted to see how he would try to sell his socialist agenda to the country. But last night, nothing.

The lack of interest was most likely occassioned by the fact that I've already made up my mind about UHC: I'm against it. But I think there's another reason, too. The American people are finally starting to see Barack Obama for what he really is. According to several recent polls, support for Obama's policies and for Obama himself is falling. The people are waking up, and Obama knows it. Hence, the performance last night.

As I said, I didn't watch the press conference but I got a taste of how it probably went by watching Fox News Tuesday evening. I saw a few snippets of Obama pushing his health care agenda. He was using the same scare tactics he'd used when pushing his "stimulus" package. Disaster would strike if health care reform wasn't passed. Americans believed such dire warnings in advance of the "stimulus" vote but they're not buying them now. The economy, especially unemployment, has gotten worse since Obama promised his "stimulus" would save us. We, the people, are now receiving his health care rhetoric with angry skepticism.

The American people's willingness to give Obama a free pass has eroded and he doesn't like it. The Chosen One was apparently hoping that Americans would stay in messiah mode long enough for him to force his socialist agenda on the country. That has not happened. Instead, Dear Leader now has to contend with dropping popular support and rebellion in his own party. He has gone from being a shooting star to a falling star and I, for one, couldn't be happier.

So Far, So Good

Hey friends! Good news. My little Acer laptop won't have to be retired after all, hopefully. I found out why it was imploding and what to do about it.

Yesterday I took little lappy to the rental store where I got it from to make a payment and to tell the store manager that it wasn't working right. The manager, a real sweet guy named Chris, then sat down with lappy to figure out what was going on. He discovered that the cord wasn't working right and that I needed to defragment lappy. Chris gave me a new cord for free then showed me how to do the defrag thing. He warned me that that would take a long time and he wasn't kidding! Defragging lappy took nearly FOUR hours! I even took a two hour nap only to wake up to find lappy still defragging its little heart out. Finally, the defragging process was finished, at which point I turned lappy off for the rest of the day, not wanting it to overheat as it had been doing.

Today, I took lappy on a test drive and it seems to be doing ok. I played around on the net for a few hours and I put up a new template for my blog. There was no overheating, the battery performed ok, and lappy didn't go into unexpected hibernation. I think lappy is cured. Thank God for new cords and defragging! And smart store managers. Yippee!

Implosion

Hey friends! Just wanted to let you know where I've been lately, just in case you've been wondering, hee hee. First, I've been working so much overtime for the past six weeks that almost everything's a blur and my feet can't stop hurting. Consequently, it's been kind of hard to concentrate enough to write posts. Also, my sweet little Acer laptop is imploding on me. I'm not sure what's going on with it; all I know is that I can't trust little lappy to stay on long enough for me to do a post. I think I'm going to just give my Acer up and go for a Dell. Of course, that'll take some time as I don't have $400-$600 just laying around to buy a new computer; so, I'll have to save it up. In the meantime I'll do posts from the library as often as I can. Keep stopping by, friends; I'm down right now but not out. See y'all soon!

Love,

Seane-Anna

America! America!

Tomorrow is July 4th, Independence Day. I was going to write a post to honor America, the greatest nation on God's green earth, but then I thought that would be, well, boring. I wanted to do something a little different and, hopefully, more enjoyable than just putting words on a "page". So I decided to put together this video tribute to America, a tribute made up of 13 videos, one for each of the original 13 colonies. The only thing I'm worried about is that 13 videos might be video overload, so I tried to find videos that weren't too long. Of course, you don't have to watch the videos in order or watch them all at once. Take your time, skip around, but do view at least a few.

And while you're grilling your hot dogs, watching fire works, and cannonballing into the pool, take time to remember what July 4th really means. It's Independence Day, America's birthday. Good and brave men risked everything to bring this nation into being. Let us ALWAYS thank God for those men who believed creating a free nation was more important than their fortunes and their lives. It is because of them that we have the blessing of being Americans. God bless the Founding Fathers. God bless our troops. And God bless America. Amen.

A Video Tribute to America

Vid 1: The Star Spangled Banner by Whitney Houston. This is the BEST version of our national anthem ever!

Vid 2: Feather Theme for Soldiers. For those who don't remember, the music in this video is from the movie "Forrest Gump". This theme is soft and gentle and has always made me teary eyed. Seeing the moving pictures of our troops set to this music REALLY makes me teary eyed. Look for the picture at the end of the vid; if it doesn't make you cry you're not human.

Vid 3: America Again. This song by Christian artist Carman is dedicated to America's Christian heritage, a heritage which liberals have been methodically trying to eradicate for decades. America was settled and founded by Christians, period. If that makes you uncomfortable, well, it sucks to be you.

Vid 4: Red Skelton Explains the Pledge of Allegiance. Comedian Red Skelton gives a simple yet powerful explanation of the Pledge. What he says at the end really makes you think.

Vid 5: The Gettysburg Address. This is a video of Lincoln's famous speech delivered at the dedication of the Soldier's National Cemetery at Gettysburg, PA. This is one of the greatest speeches in America's history.

Vid 6: A Short Commentary on America's Christian Heritage. A brief overview of the religious heritage of our nation.

Vid 7: Open Season. I call this song the battle hymn of the anti-jihad. Stuck Mojo, which sings this song promising to make mincement out of radical Muslims, is the kind of pro-America band that the rock world needs more of.

Vid 8: I'm American. Another politically incorrect rock 'n' roll masterpiece from Stuck Mojo. And the lyrics are on the vid! Cool!

Vid 9: Jim Brossard, American Hero. Jim Brossard, an American veteran, rescues an American flag which had been desecrated by being flown below a Mexican flag outside a business in Reno, NV. You go, Jim!

Vid 10: For Soldiers About to Rock (We Salute You). Uncle Sam's finest doing what they do best, kickin' the enemy's ass! Go on with yo' sexy selves!

Vid 11: Legal Immigrant Tanya Tyberg. Tanya Tyberg, an immigrant from Ukraine, describes a few of the rules she had to follow to come to America legally. Why do so many liberals believe that brown Mexicans should be exempt from the rules that White foreigners like Miss Tyberg have to follow? Sounds racist if you ask me.

Vid 12: The Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson. Through the "miracle" of special effects, Thomas Jefferson "recites" the Declaration of Independence, including that pesky business about our rights being endowed by our Creator. This is what it's all about, people.

Vid 13: Remember Me. This was one of the first military tribute videos I ever saw on YouTube; it still brings tears to my eyes. I will remember. Will you?

There you have it; 13 videos for the 13 original colonies that became the greatest nation on earth. Happy 4th of July and please, remember. God bless America.

Stunned!

I am stunned. Like all everyone else I'm glued to my tv right now following the reports of Michael Jackson's untimely death. I repeat, I am stunned.

Michael Jackson, when he was with the Jackson 5, was one of my first celebrity crushes. I learned what being a fan of someone meant by idolizing Michael and the J5 as a kid. The first concert I ever attended was a Jackson 5 concert. I was in third grade and I screamed like all those "silly" girls I'd seen in old footage of Beatles concerts. Now the boy who made me act a fool is a dead man. I just can't believe it.

I can't say anything else. This is just so sad. As a single dad I hope Michael had made provisions for the care of his three children in case of his death. I pray those kids will be well cared for and protected. Again, this is just so sad. No more "Billie Jean". No more "Thriller". We won't see that kind of creative genuis for another generation. What a loss; what a loss. There really is nothing left to say.

Happy Fathers' Day!

Happy Fathers' Day to all you Dads out there! I want to express my sincere admiration and respect for all you guys who are lovingly and responsibly doing a job that too often goes unappreciated in our modern culture. Well, here's one girlie who appreciates you. Keep up the good work, dudes! God bless ya!

No Apology Necessary...Again

A couple of days ago the Senate passed a resolution apologizing for slavery. The House did the same thing back in July of last year. When I heard the news about the Senate's resolution on "The O'Reilly Factor" I was disgusted and angry. I felt like screaming, as Diane Keaton did in that pivotal scene in "Godfather, Part 2", "This must all end!"

When are we going to stop this nonsense?! THERE IS NO NEED FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO APOLOGIZE FOR SLAVERY!!!!!

Yes, slavery was a cruel thing, a gross injustice; but America wasn't the only nation to practice it. If apologizing for slavery is supposed to be about atonement and moral cleansing then every culture, nation, and civilization that has practiced slavery should issue a mea culpa. Both houses of Congress should pass resolutions calling on every guilty party to repent.

The Muslim world should be called on to apologize for its millennia long trafficking in African slaves. Africans should be called on to apologize for selling their people to the Arab Muslims and the European Christians. Native Americans should be called on to apologize for their involvement in slavery. Black Americans who are descendants of slave owning Blacks should be called on to apologize for their ancestors' transgression. The Egyptians should be called on to apologize for their enslavement of the Hebrews, and on and on it should go. Of course, this won't happen because apologizing for slavery isn't about atonement or moral cleansing. Apologizing for slavery is about getting power and creating socialism.

Repeated mea culpas for owning human beings perpetuates the myth that White Americans were unique practitioners of that sin. That myth keeps many Whites feeling an irrational guilt. Liberals then exploit that guilt to goad Whites into supporting massive government social programs which often disproportionately benefit Blacks and other minorities. Wealth redistribution is achieved without ever uttering the words "socialism" or "reparations". Marxist mission accomplished.

America, it's time to wise up. Continuing to stoke the fires of racial resentment does America no good. The only people who benefit from that are liberals whose power rests on minorities having a constant feeling of victimhood. It is in the name of those "oppressed minorities" that these liberals seek to establish socialism in America. Most Americans don't want socialism and know it's not needed to overcome racism. This country just elected its first Black president, and whether they love or hate Obama most people understand that his election was a great leap forward on the race front. And that's what we need to do: keep leaping forward. That's the only way to achieve MLK's dream of a society where we are judged by our character and not our color. I want such a society; the slavery hucksters don't. Which side are YOU on?

The Audacity!

When I was growing up "ma'am" was a term of politeness and respect. I couldn't address my grandmother as anything other than "ma'am". And Granny would not let me, my sister, or my brother say anything to other female adults without adding "ma'am". "Yes, ma'am", "No, ma'am", or "Excuse me, ma'am" was the rule. This taught us to respect our elders and the social superiorty they had over us. But those days are long gone. Today, "ma'am" is a term of derision, at least it is to Senator Barbara Boxer.

During a Senate hearing today, Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh had the audacity to call Boxer "ma'am" a few times. Offended, Boxer asked the general to call her Senator as she'd worked a long time to get that title. Uh huh. And Brigadier General Walsh didn't work a long time to get his title? I'm sure Walsh worked long and hard to get that "Brig. Gen." in front of his name, and I'm sure he endured far more rigorous trials for his title than Sen. Boxer ever did for hers. Besides, it's military etiquette to call your superior either "sir" or "ma'am". Uberliberal Boxer doesn't seem to know that. Surprise.

Sen. Boxer needs to drop that feminist chip she has on her shoulder. She should apologize to Brig. Gen. Walsh. He called her "ma'am" because it's the polite thing to do. She doesn't like "ma'am"? Perhaps she would've preferred slutty flight attendant. I'm just sayin'.

Blink!

After days of making light of his nasty "joke" about Sarah Palin's daughter, David Letterman has finally issued a real apology. He has blinked. Of course, he blinked under duress.

Pressure was mounting against Letterman, and it was starting to come from all sides. The National Organization for Women finally issued a statement criticizing Letterman's "humor", and even uberliberal Joy Behar voiced qualified sympathy for Palin on "The View" yesterday (I wonder what changed her mind). And today a politically mixed crowd of protestors gathered in front of CBS's headquarters and called for Letterman to be fired. A cross section of Americans is simply disgusted with dear ol' Dave.

It's always good to see their side of the political aisle cave, but on a certain level this controversy isn't about politics. The Letterman-Palin "feud" is about hypocrisy. We as Americans need to agree, once and for all, on a single rule of conduct vis-a-vis the families of politicians, and violators of that rule must be held to equal account. The families, and especially the children, of politicians should be off limits, period. We all must drop the nasty habit of excusing disparaging remarks when they're made against the families of those on the other side. Hopefully, Letterman's blink will help us do just that.

Sarah Palin And The Wolves

David Letterman's recent nasty insult to Sarah Palin and her family has me wondering just what is it that the liberal hounds of hell have against that woman.

Sarah Palin is a conservative. She's pro-life, pro-gun rights, supports the traditional family, and doesn't believe in big government social programs. Lots of women share those views, yet Mrs. Palin alone is a lightning rod for hateful personal attacks from the hateful Left. Why do the progressive wolves hate her so?

I think liberals hate Sarah Palin so much precisely because she's a woman. Liberals believe that certain constituencies belong exclusively to them. Women are one of those constituencies. Not only do leftists believe that they alone care about women, they also believe that women owe them blind allegiance. If a woman starts to think for herself and dares to step off the liberal/feminist plantation she will have hell to pay. Just ask Sarah.

For the Left, Sarah Palin isn't just a person, she's a symbol of all those independent thinking women--and other minorities--whom the Left strenuously tries to marginalize. Minorities who don't toe the leftist party line are a grave threat to progressives because they undermine one of the Left's main sources of power: obediently liberal minorities. That's why liberals are so committed to identity politics.

In order to win, liberals need the minority vote and to get that vote they need for minorities to think primarily in terms of racial or gender self-interest. When women or Blacks go into the voting booth, liberals need for them to ask, Which candidate will do the most for me as a woman or a Black person. That question must overrule all other concerns the female or non-White voter has. If that happens the liberal candidate--usually a Democrat--will get the minority vote because liberals have convinced minorities that they are the only ones who can deliver the racial or gender goods. Also most minorites have been convinced that voting Democrat is crucuial to being an authentic member of their respective groups. And then along comes Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin is a feminine rebel, a woman who doesn't let her genitalia determine her politics the way the Left says they should. She chose her own opinions, values, and beliefs and apologizes to no one for doing so. Mrs. Palin's courageous conservatism tells other women that they, too, can escape the ideological/political prison of the Left. And that's why she's such a threat to the progressives. The insults and nastiness spewed against Sarah Palin and her family are liberals' desperate attempts to destroy her and protect their power. Sarah Palin, though, is strong; being a conservative woman in these politically correct times proves that. She will stand firm and she will prevail, of that I have no doubt.

Sarah Palin, 10; the wolves, 0.
