Haven't We Been Here Before?

Yesterday I was off work and was going to take my Mom to the movies. I bought my hometown newspaper to see where the movie she wanted to see was playing. Unfortunately, that film wasn't playing at a nearby theater so we didn't get to go, but all was not lost. On the front of the newspaper was the announcement that the Obama administration wants Congress to draft a "jobs bill" and have it ready for Obama to sign in January. Excuse me, but haven't we been here before?

I distinctly remember that less than a year ago Obama scared the American people into supporting his gazillion dollar stimulus package. Wasn't that supposed to have been a jobs bill? I mean, wasn't the stimulus supposed to stimulate the economy, prevent unemployment from going above 8%, and save or create millions of jobs? Well, wasn't it?

The first stimulus or "economic recovery" bill didn't work. Billions of taxpayer dollars were spent and unemployment is now above 10%...and 2010 prospects for many Dems look bleak. No wonder Obama felt compelled to act. He'll do anything for victory for his party (but not his country); plus, this gives Obama the chance to launch a second stimulus package by calling it a "jobs bill". The first "stimulus" didn't stimulate, so Obama seeks to fix that by spending more money! And like with the first "economic recovery" act and like with health care reform, Obama wants this jobs bill pushed through Congress lightning fast, before the American people have a chance to know what hit them.

Barack Obama promised change but his modus operandi never changes. His "solution" to everything is to spend money like a drunken sailor and then, when that doesn't work, to spend even more money. The guy doesn't know how to do anything but spend money...and paint pictures of apocalyptic doom to scare us into supporting his fiscal irresponsibility. I ask again, haven't we been here before? Yes, America, we have. And the only way to ensure that we don't go there again is to oust the whole Dem/lib lot in 2010 and 2012. That's our real hope and our real change.

Louisiana Purchase

Yesterday the Senate voted for cloture, i.e. to allow debate on its version of health care "reform". The vote was 60-39 and was pretty much along party lines, although there were a few moderate Dems whose vote was up for grabs. One of those Dems was Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. She was straddling the fence until the Senate threw her a $100,000,000 bone. That's right. Landrieu was given, in the Senate bill itself, $100,000,000 worth of tax breaks for her state of Louisiana, and only for Louisiana. To my knowledge no other state was given such a break. Talk about political prostitution.

I knew the far-left Dems were willing to do anything to pass their monstrosity of a bill, but this takes the proverial cake. Ignoring the will of the American people; ignoring fiscal responsibility; ignoring the Constitution which no where gives the federal government the authority to control health care; ignoring all that the arrogant, paternalistic socialists in the Senate are shoving socialized medicine down our throats, and using taxpayer money to bribe an unprincipled fence sitter to join them.

Mary Landrieu is a bought woman and an unprincipled mercenary. She voted solely for money and what she hopes it got her: another term as a Senator from Louisiana. Apparently, she's hoping that Louisiana residents will give her credit for the tax breaks and vote her back into office next year. I think Landrieu may have underestimated her constituents. The American people, even in Louisiana, are angry not only about Obamacare but also about the arrogance of condescending politicians who treat them like rebellious children who don't know what's best for themselves.

Well, we are NOT children. We DO know what's best for us. We know what we don't want and why. We know that bankrupting the nation is BAD policy. We know that robbing from our grandchildren is BAD policy. We know that "reforming" a system most Americans are satisfied with is BAD policy. And we know an unprincipled, bribe taking, political whore when we see one. And we don't like ANY of it!

Mary Landrieu thinks she has saved her cushy Senate seat by succumbing to bribery. She's wrong. 2010 is going to be a blood bath for the Dems, beginning with dear Mary. If it's not, it'll be a very bad thing for America. We'll have to start learning Chinese because they will be our new masters, owning the debt we've driven through the roof in the name of faux compassion. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the kind of change Obama planned all along, and was willing to pay Landrieu a pretty penny to get. Louisiana Purchase, indeed!

That Cover

It's probably obvious but I'll say it out loud: I'm a Palinista. Sarah Palin is my kind of politician: conservative, Christian, pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment, and all around traditionalist. I'm mindful of the brutal trashing Mrs. Palin has endured from the lame stream media for being who she is. I certainly believe the leftists media elite wants to destroy Palin. Still, I think the outrage over the Newsweek cover to the left--no pun intended--is a waste of time and maybe even a bit disingenuous.

When I heard that there was a "negative" photo of Sarah Palin on the cover of Newsweek I assumed it was some sort of unflattering candid shot or a caricature. Instead, the "sexist" picture is a photo of Sarah Palin in--gasp!--shorts. Ohmigod!!!!! Conservatives, let's get real.

The photo on the cover was taken from a photo shoot Mrs. Palin did for Runner's World magazine. Now, this picture might've been inappropriate for the cover of what is ostensibly a news magazine. Perhaps a more "formal" photo was in order, and perhaps this casual shot was an attempt by the left-wing Newsweek to demean Palin. Maybe all of that is true but it's not cause for foot stomping anger. I mean, Sarah Palin looks good in that picture! I don't understand why she didn't see how she could've turned this attempted insult to her favor. Think of the possibilities.

While her critics were making themselves look like pit bulls with their malicious attacks, Sarah Palin could've waved this photo to the American people and said, "This is what being conservative, Christian, pro-life, and the mother of five will get you--smokin' hot!". Or, "You've heard about my 'caribou Barbie' lifestyle, now see the results!". A light hearted retort to this liberal provocation would've been a show of real class. Instead we got irate accusations of sexism which, in my opinion, made Sarah Palin look like a crybaby.

Mrs. Palin's handling of the cover controversy reveals that she has some "maturing" to do. I don't think she's ready to run for the presidency in 2012, if that's her intention. Still, her heart and beliefs are in the right place and I think Mrs. Palin should run for a lesser office to help build her resume for 2016. By then her experience will be greatly improved and she will have bounced back from her overreaction to that cover.

Trying KSM

"Hey Obama, here's what I think of trying Khalid Sheik Mohammed in civilian court...and here's what I think of you!"

I was going to write a thoughtful piece on the travesty of Obama treating the mastermind of 9-11 like a common criminal and his act of war like a common crime, but I was a little too discombobulated--spelling?--by all the craziness going on in our great nation. Besides, the above photo "says" exactly how I feel about Obama and his KSM outrage. What a sorry excuse for a president.

Islamic Terrorism At Fort Hood

It was terrorism.

No, officialdom hasn't yet labeled it as such, but the massacre of 13 soldiers at Fort Hood this past Thursday was an act of domestic Islamic terrorism. This is the second act of Islamic terrorism on American soil since Obama took office, and the deadliest one since 9-11. But no one among the powers that be seems to have the courage to call this rampage what it is.

As I've thought over these last few days about the horror at Fort Hood, I've concluded that what scares and angers me the most is seeing the iron grip that political correctness has on our society and all its most important institutions.

Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the army psychiatrist and Muslim who slaughtered our soldiers at Fort Hood, had given plenty of clues that he was heading off the radical Muslim cliff. He had complained that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were unjust to Muslims and feared his upcoming deployment. He had said he was Muslim first and American second. He said he believed Muslims shouldn't kill other Muslims. And he had reportedly left jihadi style rhetoric on the internet. These things by themselves might not be too much case for alarm but taken together they had up to a HUGE red flag. Why didn't the military pick up on it? Most likely for the same reason that most politicians and news folks haven't called what Hasan did terrorism.

In the PC world of the Left, where many politicians and virtually all journalists live, Muslims are a protected group. Being non-White, non-Western, and non-Christian they are regarded as oppressed and are cut tremendous slack and given a huge pass. Every effort is made to be sensitive to their feeling. Violence by Muslims is to be understood, not condemned. And under no circumstances are Muslims generally to be condemned for the actions of a few. This politically correct paradigm is the main reason why the rampage at Fort Hood hasn't been called terrorism. But I think there's another reason, too. Officialdom has resisted labeling Nidal Malik Hasan's crime Islamic terrorism for political reasons. They want to protect the reputation of Barack Obama and his smarmy policy of peace through appeasement.

Obama, you may recall, went on his now notorious I'm Sorry To Be An American Tour of the Muslim world shortly after becoming president. His grovelling to Muslims was supposed to usher in a new era of "mutual respect" and peace between America and the Islamic world. It didn't. Islamic terrorism has continued and has now struck twice on American soil since Obama took possession of the Oval Office. The first act of domestic Islamic terrorism under Obama was the June 1st murder of Pvt. William Long by Muslim convert Carlos Bledsoe, aka Abdulhakim Muhammad. The second act of domestic Islamic terrorism under Obama was the horror at Fort Hood on Thursday. That attack, I repeat, was the deadliest Islamic attack on the homeland since 9-11.

I fear that more attacks from radical Muslims are coming. They are coming because we now have in Washington a crew who won't do what's necessary to stop them. The first president to treat Islamic terrorism as the war that it is was savagely maligned for doing so. Now we have a president who thinks that "soft power",i.e. appeasement, will calm the savage Muslim beast. Well, Nidal Malik Hasan and Abdulhakim Muhammad didn't get that memo. Waiting for the Islamofascists to become good boys and girls in response to our ass kissing is going to cost more Americans their lives. Next time it may be a shopping mall, commuter train, or school that gets hit. Don't expect the Anointed One and his policies to be held accountable, though, when they strike again. Don't expect the terrorists to be held accountable, either. It'll be Bush's fault; that's liberal officialdom's prime way of absolving Obama of responsibility for anything bad. Protecting Obama, not America, is all that progressives, including Obama himself, really care about. More dead Americans in the homeland are on the way.

Heaven help us.

Tribute To The Fallen At Fort Hood

I'm not yet ready to write on the horror that occured at Fort Hood yesterday. I found this AWESOME song on a blog called Power and Control. It was posted to honor the victims of the evil and cowardly act that transpired Thursday. I'm putting this song on PGZ also to honor the dead and wounded at Fort Hood and in all of the military in this time of war. So listen up, here's some real manly and patriotic rock'n'roll. It'll cheer you and scare the hell out of that jihadi trash!

Message To Illegals

I found this wonderfully politically incorrect picture on my friend Angel's blog and just had to post it here. When it comes to the issue of illegal immigration it doesn't get any more succinctly unpc and true than this.

Hey, Barack!

A short note to Barack Obama, ditherer-in-chief: Barack, if you don't want to use your army, General McChrystal would like to borrow it. Thank you.
