Too Blue

In less than a week a key election will take place in Massachusetts to fill the Senate seat left empty by the late Ted Kennedy. The candidates are Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican challenger Scott Brown. The most recent polls I've heard about have the race neck and neck. The Republican actually has a chance...in Massachusetts.

But that's just it. This election is taking place in Massachusetts; and while I'd love to see Scott Brown win I just don't think he will. I can't and don't share the optimism of Sean Hannity, for example. He's been acting almost like Brown has already won. He's been down right giddy about the prospect of the Dems losing their filibuster proof majority. Now that would be wonderful! But I'm not popping any champagne bottles, yet. Scott Brown may get within an inch of winning but I don't think he'll be able to pull it off. Massachusetts is just too blue. And that's just too bad.

Even if Brown can pull off a win, there's been some machinations within the state's establishment to delay his certification (if it's close, with recounts, if it's not, just not certify him until AFTER the hellthscare vote). Libtards will find a way to keep the corruption alive until they're thrown out in large batches at the ballot box.

Five bucks says you are wrong.

The last poll this morning has him up a few points. A special election means that only a small number of people will turn out. Republicans have a chance.

Mass has elected a three Republican Govs over since 1990. Why not a U.S. Senator?

mccommas: if that's directed at me, I hope you're right and I am wrong ;) But my faith in libtard ethics is such that I'd win the bet if Brown wins the election...they'll delay his certification until after the hellthscare vote.

I was challenging the lovely Miss Seane-Anna but I will take you on too.

Grow some optimism girl! Wouldn't it be a shame if we missed an opportunity because we were pessimistic? I contributed 20 bucks.

Get out your Visa and please do the same. I will let you out of the bet if you do :)

Remember in 1993 it was one Republican after another -- Coverdale, Hutchinson, etc -- after Clinton was elected? There is a strong voter backlash that led right up to the Republican Congressional Landslide of 1994.

History is repeating itself right now. Get out your Kodak! We are having a moment!

May you be absolutely RIGHT on that 'un, mccommas!

I don't agree with your speculation that Brown won't win. I think that he just might...but, it is just as Skunkfeathers said. They are going to hold off conformation of his win if he wins, until after the vote on the health care bill. And to me that is pretty chicken sh#@ of them don't you think? They wouldn't allow the Repuublicans do to that.....

Skunky, Mac, and Robert I hope you three guys are right. I'm not trying to be pessimistic. I want Scott Brown to win. I'd love nothing better than for Prince Harry to lose his filibuster proof majority but my gut just isn't swinging that way. But if Brown pulls it off it'll be wonderful for the country. Fingers crossed!

What we really have to worry about is the senator from Maine. She is Obama's ace in the hole.

The senator from Maine? You mean Olympia Snowe, Mac?

I think that, right now, ol' Ted's fuming in Hell, wishing that he could get good and drunk again, and take Martha Coakley for a scenic drive at Chappaquiddick...
