2014--Let The Games Begin!

I know it's a day late but I want to wish everyone happy new year! 2014 is going to be a crucial year for America.  It may very well decide what path our country will walk for the next generation.  So, as we work to make positive changes in our personal lives those of the Wise must also stay focused on the course of our nation and do what it takes to keep it going in the wise direction.  That is not going to be easy.  The Wise will have our work cut out for us, but with a little guidance I believe we can turn the great ship America around.  So let's take a deep breath, roll up our sleeves, and start moving mountains.  2014 can belong to us!

Gratitude

I'm grateful for my family.

I'm grateful for my mother, who always has my back even when I don't deserve it.

I'm grateful for my sister who's my best friend.

I'm grateful for my brother who always makes me laugh.

I'm grateful for my uncle who knows how to encourage me and strengthen my faith just when I need it.

I'm grateful for my niece who reminds me life is beautiful.

I'm grateful for my nephew who inspires me to write.

I'm grateful for my great-niece who keeps me young and whose innocence inspires me to fight for the preservation of our culture's time-honored values.

I'm grateful for my friends who are true lights in the darkness.

I'm grateful I live in a country where, for now, at least, I can speak my mind, practice my faith, and live my life as I choose with little fear of persecution, imprisonment, or death.

And finally, as a cancer survivor, I'm just grateful to be here, to see another holiday, to be alive.

God is good!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Veterans' Day

I'm keeping it short and sweet for Veteran's Day. I wish a heartfelt thank you to all our servicemen and women who fought to keep me and America free. The US Armed Forces is the greatest force for good the world has ever known. Thank you, thank you for your service! And God bless you all!

I'm An American!

Tomorrow is July 4th, the birthday of the greatest nation the world has ever seen. Rather than write about my feelings for this land, I've decided to treat all of you to a musical tribute to my awesome America, courtesy of the rock band Stuck Mojo. Below is the video to their song, "I'm American". This is hard rockin', in-yo'-face, patriotic rock, the kind of music I wish epitomized the rock world. Sadly, it doesn't, but with an example like Stuck Mojo maybe up and coming rockers will realize that you don't have to be an Obama loving, blame-America-first, liberal to authentically rock out. So grab your flag, pull up a chair, and get ready to rock your love for the good ol' USA and your gratitude to God for making you American. You're an American!

Happy New Year!

Happy new year, friends!

Today is the first day of the new year, 2011. Of course, I've seen many new years come and go but this one is a tad bit more special than the previous ones. After battling cancer during the last half of 2010 I'm bringing in this new year with a new appreciation of life and health. One of the first things I did this morning was give myself a breast exam. I'm going to do them twice a month from now on. I have a renewed commitment to my health after the events of 2010. With God's help, NO MORE CANCER FOR ME!!!!

Dear friends, I wish for all of you the happiest, healthiest, most prosperous, and most blessed new year. 2011's gonna be a blast!

Merry Christmas, Friends!

The Christmas Shoes

This one gets me every time. It'll bring tears to your eyes too and, hopefully, remind you of what Christmas is all about and what we have to be thankful for all year.

Merry Christmas to all! Goodwill to those of whom God approves.

(And I finished my cancer treatments on Friday, December 17th. That was the BEST Christmas present ever!)
